Darby Racing has acquired a promising filly by St Mark’s Basilica out of Irresistible Girl at the 2025 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney. This acquisition continues our tradition of sourcing top-tier racehorses from the Classic Sale, which has previously yielded champions like Group 1-winning 2-year-old Yankee Rose, Inglis Millennium placegetter Within the Law, stakes-placed debutant Cobra Club, and Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign.

St Mark’s Basilica, a European champion, has made a significant impact in Australia, with his progeny fetching impressive prices at sales such as the Arqana August Sale, where a filly sold for €1.7 million.

The dam, Irresistible Girl, is by I Am Invincible out of the Favorite Trick mare, Illusionist. She had a commendable racing career with two wins from 12 starts and has produced progeny that have sold at auction, including a colt by Maurice that sold for $80,000 at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.

This filly will be trained by multiple Group 1-winning trainer Bjorn Baker at his Warwick Farm stable in Sydney. Baker, who has trained over 1,300 winners, including eight Group 1 victories, is renowned for his expertise and success in the thoroughbred racing industry.
