The catalogue was originally due to offer 289 lots but with a whopping 66 withdrawals only 223 horses will pass through the iconic Inglis Sales ring at the Riverside complex today (11th October 2022). Past graduates of the Ready2Race sale have produced 450 winners, including the likes of dual Group 1 winner, Nettoyer.

Sebastian Hutch, Chief Executive of Inglis Bloodstock, is anticipating vibrant trade, stating: “This sale has been hugely progressive in recent years and the confidence in the sale from the Southern Hemisphere’s leading vendors has resulted in a catalogue of unprecedented strength.” The thoroughbred market has displayed resilience post covid during 2022, in both the yearling and breeding stock sales, and it would be surprising to see a dip in it now.

LOT 51 Bay Colt (So You Think x Slippery Madam)

A full brother to Care To Think, the winner of the Magic Millions Cup (RL) and second in the Liverpool Cup (Group 3). The mare has a progeny winner/runner strike rate of 50% and So You Think has already sired two Group 2 winners, a Group 3 winner and 7 Stakes placed horses in just over two months into the new season. He is one of only 5 lots catalogued by the sire.

Lot 51 Colt (So You Think x Slippery Madam)
LOT 110 Bay Colt (Deep Field x Alderney)

Performed the fastest breeze of the catalogue with a time of 10.1secs. The colt is the fourth foal out of the dam who is a full-sister to the Stakes-winner Ballet Suite and half-sister to Stakes-winner Casquets and Stakes-placed Furiosa and Merensky Reef. The recent second in Group 3 (Tibbie Stakes) by Riduna (Fastnet Rock), the colts four-year-old half-sister, only adds to the family’s blacktypeand this two-year-old’s value in the ring.

Lot 110 Colt (Deep Field x Alderney)
LOT 136 Bay Colt (No Nay Never x Boomex)

A strong breeze of 10.35sec puts him in the top 36% of the 223 lots on offer in terms of time. The colt’s half-sister is the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas winner and Incognitus Stakes winner Marboosha (Dream Ahead). The mare’s only other progeny is Burum (Artie Schiller), who is also a winner. This colt oozes athleticism and looks like he can make it three winners from three foals of racing age for his dam.

Lot 136 Colt (No Nay Never x Boomex)
LOT 206 Bay Colt (Epaulette x Juliet’s Princess)

The only representative of his sire in the sale and he is the half-brother of triple Group 1 winner, Forbidden Love (All Too Hard). His dam, Juliet’s Princess won 5 races herself during her career at over 1050m to 1600m, thus making him not only a unique offering but also a valuable one. You couldn’t imagine much of a lag time for this colt between the sales ring and the track.

Lot 206 Gelding (Epaulette x Juliet’s Princess)
LOT 276 Bay Gelding (Deep Field x National Anthem)

Although it is not ideal that this lot is being offered without the potential of a career at Stud, his relations and breeze time, being the second fastest of the sale, suggests that he has the potential to collect a hefty amount of prize money during the remainder of his racing career. The dam is a winning half-sister to the prolific sire Starspangledbanner and has produced three winners from three runners.

Every horse catalogued is eligible for the $7.55m Inglis Race Series, including the $2m Inglis Millennium and the new $1m Pink Bonus Scheme (Inglis).
